Hurricane Katrina Aftermath in Photographs - January
2006 |
Over the New Year's holiday I traveled to New Orleans and throughout
the Gulf Coast. We were shocked to see the extent of the damage
that still remained, just a little more than three months after
Hurricane Katrina struck. I was initially apprehensive to photograph
the vast areas of destruction until I spoke with many of the locals who urged me to help publicize their current situation.
I hope these pictures will serve both as historical record and
also as notice that, while the hurricane is long gone, the region
still
desperately needs help.
