| Hurricane Katrina Aftermath in Photographs - January
2006 |
Over the New Year's holiday my wife and I, both volunteers
with the American Red Cross, traveled to New Orleans and throughout
the Gulf Coast. We were shocked to see the extent of the damage
that still remained, just a little more than three months after
Hurricane Katrina struck. I was initially apprehensive to photograph
the vast areas of destruction until I spoke with many of the locals who urged me to help publicize their current situation.
I hope these pictures will serve both as historical record and
also as notice that, while the hurricane is long gone, the region
still
desperately needs help.
